HooDoo Job Announcement – Brewing Assistant
HooDoo Brewing Company opened in the heart of Alaska on Halloween 2012. We produce a rotating selection of only the finest beers for our busy Taproom and Biergarten, and we self-distribute throughout the state. We brew on a 3-vessel Premier Stainless 15bbl brewhouse into 30 and 60bbl fermentation tanks. In addition to kegged beer, we bottle a couple of times a year, and package our beers in cans on a three head Cask mACS system.
The HooDoo Crew is seeking a motivated and positive personality to join our brewing staff. The optimal candidate is appreciative of craft beer, supports local business and values local products. We are an active production environment with an elevated quality of brewing and work ethic expectations.
Position: Brewing Assistant, Full-time
Pay range: $18 – $22/hr, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Description: The Assistant Brewer is responsible for assisting the brewers with all job duties associated with production of the highest quality beer at HooDoo Brewing Company.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in all functions related to producing the highest quality beer including wort production, cellaring, packaging, and warehousing.
- Assists in coldbox organization and weekly inventory
- Assists in the cleanliness and organization of brewing, cellaring, and raw material storage areas
- Assist with proper handling of chemicals required for sanitization and cleaning
- Assists in monthly inventory on all beer in process, and brewing materials
- Assists with special events and beer festivals
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Commercial brewing or home brewing background is a plus, but not required
- Current TAPs and AK Food Workers Card or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment
- Must be a detail oriented, motivated, and positive personality
- Ability to work both independently and within a team, with minimal supervision
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time, lift 55lbs regularly, and move 165lbs, as needed.
- Willingness to work in an active and physically demanding workplace
