May is upon us! We made it through another challenging Fairbanks winter – it was a fun one, but it’s finally time to say goodbye to the mountains of snow and that pesky ice layer that has made it a winter we won’t soon forget! We’re excited to finally dive into Summer – let’s kick it off by sharing one of our favorite annual releases – the Maibock Lager. Brewed in March, this malty lager has been aging ice cold in our cellar for weeks, allowing the smooth malt flavors and crisp noble hops to come together and create the perfect brew to ring in the season of the midnight sun.
We will release the Maibock Lager on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at 11am. We’ll have glass-pours to enjoy in the Biergarten, plus growlers, kegs and 4-packs of 16-ounce cans to-go on your next interior Alaska adventure!
The BeerBocks of Hoodoo
Each spring we work with a local artist to create a piece of art to commemorate this annual release. Traditionally, Bock beers of all types have a goat or ram on the label, and each year the HooDoo Maibock art carries on the tradition. For our tenth Maibock release in 2022, we have joined forces with longtime friend John DeRuyter, to create something distinctive and definitely non-traditional.
For this year’s commissioned art piece John created a series of 125 pixelated drawings we are calling the “BeerBocks of HooDoo”. Individually these retro 8-bit drawings are part of a more complex tapestry. These BeerBocks represent the flavor and culture of HooDoo, Fairbanks and much more. We will be featuring his artwork on five different T-shirts, a special edition Maibock 2022 glass, a groovy sticker set, poster, and of course, labels on our 16-ounce cans of Maibock Lager – all available at 11am on Saturday, May 14th!
But Wait – There’s More…
Have you heard of Cryptocurrency? How about Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)? We’re so stoked to announce that each of the 125 BeerBocks of HooDoo have been made into NFTs available for purchase on the Solana block chain…
I’d like to welcome you to the BeerBocks of HooDoo NFT project: Maybe your eyes just glazed over, maybe you want to stop here, I get it, crypto isn’t for everybody, but if you’d like to know more about NFTs and how they can actually have tangible benefits (beer in your belly), follow me down the rabbit hole! Cryptocurrency is still fairly unregulated and pretty hard to get ahold of and actually use. Frankly, it’s also really hard to explain to people. So let’s learn together.
