HooDoo Brewing Co is looking for a motivated, positive team member to join our taproom staff. Position: Taproom Assistant, Part-time, 2-3 days/wk with opportunity for additional hours

Pay: $13/hr base wage + shared tip pool (average total hourly pay: ~ $30—$35/hr)

Job Description

The Taproom Assistant reports to the Taproom Manager and supports day-to-day taproom operations by providing excellent hospitality, knowledgeable beer service, and a positive customer experience. This position helps represent HooDoo Brewing Company to the public and contributes to a welcoming, well-organized taproom environment.

Responsibilities

Taproom Assistants are active, hands-on team members who contribute to all aspects of taproom operations. This position requires staying engaged throughout each shift, taking initiative, and helping maintain a clean, efficient, and customer-ready environment beyond serving beer.

  • Provide excellent hospitality to ensure customers have a positive and memorable HooDoo experience
  • Welcome customers, take orders, and offer helpful information about our beers and the brewery
  • Pour pints and fill growlers using proper pouring techniques and ensuring high-quality presentation
  • Maintain cleanliness of the taproom throughout each shift, including bussing glassware, tidying restrooms, changing trash, spot-checking floors, and wiping surfaces
  • Clean, organize, and properly store glassware
  • Keep taproom apparel and retail items stocked, organized, and visually appealing
  • Complete daily taproom opening and closing procedures, including cleaning behind the bar, taps, restrooms, and sweeping and mopping floors
  • Develop a working understanding of the brewing process and beer style differences
  • Stay knowledgeable about existing and new beers in order to confidently answer customer questions
  • Support back-of-house and occasional non-taproom projects as needed, including canning shifts, special event or holiday setup and decorating, taproom cleaning and maintenance projects, and inventory assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Current TAPS Card and Alaska Food Worker Card, or ability to obtain both within 30 days of hire
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and positive attitude
  • Willingness to work in an active, high-volume service environment that requires staying engaged throughout the shift
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods and perform hands-on tasks during scheduled shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry items such as cases of beer, kegs, and glass racks (up to approximately 50 lbs)
  • A relentless love for great beer
